Guidelines for Remote Assessments

You can help your remote assessment go smoothly by:

• sending us the required documents, photos, and videos that will be requested by your local safety officers; and
• actively responding to phone calls and emails.

 

Guidelines for Physical Assessments

If your work requires a physical assessment, our safety officers will perform an OHS hazard assessment before a site visit to evaluate hazards and determine personal protective equipment (PPE) needs.

 

Does Your Site Require Hazard Control Documentation?

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) a Workers Compensation Act contain legal requirements for workplace health and safety that must be met by all workplaces, including Technical Safety BC.

In order to comply with these requirements, Technical Safety BC employees will not enter a site that is known or suspected to have any of the following issues until the duty holder (owner or contractor) provides hazard control documentation from a qualified individual declaring the site safe from:

• Hazardous materials or respiratory hazards (such as asbestos, read, silica, mould)
• Toxic gases (such as ammonia or chlorine)
• Biological hazards (such as hantavirus or blood pathogens)

Technical Safety BC employees will not enter any sites that require a self-contained breathing apparatus including sites that have any of the following:

• Respiratory hazards due to fire damage
• Disturbed friable asbestos
