A Safer BC Starts With You

Join us in building a safer future for British Columbians.

Who We Are

We’re British Columbia’s safety regulator — an independent, self-funded organization that oversees the safe installation and operation of technical systems and equipment in the province.

British Columbians encounter these technologies every day and should feel safe as they go about their daily activities. That’s why we work with those who own or work on regulated equipment to ensure they are certified, licensed and compliant with the latest codes and standards.

Our purpose-driven, collaborative teams work to reduce safety risks throughout the province through assessment, education and outreach, enforcement, and research. We serve all British Columbians — from homeowners to contractors to your community.

Our vision is safe technical systems. Everywhere.

And we’re building the team to help us get there.

Our Values Guide Our Work

We See Genius in Diversity

When we each bring our unique perspective in the spirit of collaboration and respect, our ideas get better, and our impact on the safety system increases.

We Foster Confidence

We communicate directly, listen actively, explain our decisions and share what we know to build confidence in each other, our organization, and the safety system.

We Make the Complex Simple

By simplifying what we do, we promote understanding and engagement, making safety accessible to everyone.

We Adapt

As our province changes, we create and adopt new ideas, skills and tools that enable us to meet the safety challenges of a highly connected world.

The Role and Beyond

Competitive Salary and Benefits

In addition to our pension plan, we offer a competitive salary, comprehensive extended health benefits and perks.

Community-Centered Culture

Whether it’s in-person or virtually, we want our diverse teams, and wider community, to feel connected. Our teams come together across the province by celebrating milestones and various cultural holidays, team-building events, joining Employee Resource Groups, or just to have some fun by running together in the Sun Run. We also prioritize healthy minds and encourage work-life balance with meeting-free time, flexible paid holidays, and a subscription to the Calm app.

Commitment to Reconciliation

We respectfully recognize that our employees live and work on the traditional and unceded territories of the many Indigenous nations. Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples is an important objective for our organization. We continue to take steps to work with Indigenous peoples and communities to support safety across the province. This includes collaborating around common safety goals and helping to empower local expertise versus simply imposing regulation.

Dedication to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

Bring your whole self to work. We build diverse teams in a respectful and collaborative work environment, because people do their best work when they’re seen, heard, and valued.
