Incident Overview
A tandem zipline course was designed to use unpadded metal staircases for riders to disembark onto a wooden platform after their ride had finished. During one tour, the guide dismounted riders from the line and returned the staircase on the right-side line to its safe, parked position. However, the staircase on the left side was not returned, remaining in the rider’s path.
A zipline rider then collided with the rolling staircase at an estimated speed of 60 - 80 km/hr after the go-ahead was given to launch. The rider sustained injury to their leg and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
