This directive is being issued by the provincial safety manager pursuant to section 30 of the Safety Standards Act.

 

Rule 2-304 Disconnection (See Appendix B)

Rule:

  1. No repairs or alterations shall be carried out on any live equipment except where complete disconnection of the equipment is not feasible.

Interpretation:

This rule means that electrical work may only be carried out in a de-energized state, unless it can be demonstrated that the task to be performed is not feasible in a de-energized state.
