Electrical FSR Certification

Overview

Electrical Field Safety Representatives (FSRs) must satisfy training requirements for certification issuance and continuing education requirements for certification renewal.

If you are a training provider and want to offer FSR training, you can apply for course recognition with Technical Safety BC.

Step 1: For FSR certification training, review our FSR Classes to ensure your curriculum aligns with our training requirements. For FSR continuing education training, review our FSR A, B and C Continuing Education Syllabus and Restricted FSR Continuing Education Syllabus.

Step 2: Complete this application form to submit your general information.

Step 3: Within 5 business days, your application will be assessed, and you will receive an email with a secure link. Use this link to upload the following documents:

  1. List of instructors, including their names, years of trade experience, and years of teaching experience
  2. Qualifications of instructors, including copies of trade qualifications and teaching qualifications
  3. Course outline and lesson plan
  4. Course delivery method
  5. Course material, which may include presentations and handouts
  6. Sample record of course completion, which should include the following:

Step 4: Upon receipt of your documents, your application and attached documents will be evaluated to ensure training requirements are met. Our intent is to support you through this process and provide you with the opportunity to make changes to the curriculum based on our findings. The process usually takes a minimum of 10 business days.

Step 5: Once your curriculum meets our training requirements, you will receive a recognition letter, and the name of your institution will be added to our list of recognized electrical training providers.

  • Section 20 of the Electrical Safety Regulation adopts CSA standard C22.1; Canadian Electrical Code, Part I as the BC Electrical Code.
  • The official publication for use in British Columbia is the CSA standard, as amended by regulation.
  • Technical Safety BC assumes all training providers have permission to use CSA Group materials – in whole or in part. This includes use of clauses, figures, tables, and definitions from standards and related documents.
  • Only the CSA C22.1; Canadian Electrical Code, Part I shall be permitted for use during FSR examination.
